Solana Changelog Lists Web3.js v3.1.0 and Validator-Client Updates

The Solana Foundation has published its October 16, 2026 changelog, outlining a new Solana Web3.js release, updated validator-client software and several areas of continuing protocol engineering work.

The update lists Solana Web3.js v3.1.0 and says the release is intended to work more closely with Solana Kit, Solana Wallet Adapter, Surfpool, Anchor, Codama and SPL interfaces.

The changelog also covers releases for Agave and Firedancer, alongside discussions involving compute-unit limits, post-Alpenglow consensus improvements and transaction execution constraints.

Web3.js v3.1.0 targets closer tooling interoperability

Solana Web3.js v3.1.0 was released as part of the update. According to the Foundation, the version is intended to interoperate more closely with a set of commonly used Solana development tools and interfaces.

Those named in the changelog include Solana Kit, Solana Wallet Adapter, Surfpool, Anchor, Codama and SPL interfaces. The stated goal concerns compatibility across the development stack rather than a separate protocol change.

The release follows earlier Solana ecosystem tooling coverage, including the Solana changelog listing an Alpenglow devnet gate and new software releases.

Agave and Firedancer versions listed

The Foundation listed three Agave releases: v4.5.0-alpha.2, v4.4.0-beta.1 and v4.3.1. It also reported Firedancer Mainnet Release v26.10.2 and Testnet Release v26.10.1.

Version listings indicate software updates available across the validator-client ecosystem. The changelog did not, in the supplied information, assign a broader network outcome to those releases.

  • Agave v4.5.0-alpha.2
  • Agave v4.4.0-beta.1
  • Agave v4.3.1
  • Firedancer Mainnet Release v26.10.2
  • Firedancer Testnet Release v26.10.1

Engineering work centers on limits, consensus and validator performance

The changelog says engineering discussions included proposals on compute-unit costs for Secp256r1 syscalls and on increasing compute-unit limits. It also identified post-Alpenglow consensus improvements as an active area of work.

Agave and Firedancer reported validator-client efforts involving transaction execution-time limits, reduced Sigverify shred batches and Votor memory improvements. These items describe ongoing development and discussion, not confirmed changes to network parameters.

The emphasis on developer tools and program operations also aligns with Solana’s introduction of Microscope for program monitoring and alerts.
