Payward expands infrastructure strategy beyond Kraken exchange operations
Payward, the parent company of Kraken, is pursuing a strategy to operate as financial infrastructure rather than solely as a cryptocurrency exchange. The company’s stated approach brings trading, payments, tokenized assets, custody, compliance, settlement and institutional services onto shared technology and operating rails.
The strategy is being advanced through Payward Services, a business-to-business platform introduced by the company in March. Payward says the platform is intended to give businesses access to digital-asset infrastructure across several market functions.
Payward’s recent announcements also point to expansion in tokenized equities, payments, banking connectivity, derivatives and broader digital-asset infrastructure. Its relationship with Nasdaq includes work on tokenized equities and market-surveillance infrastructure.

The move represents an effort to place exchange services within a wider institutional and business-facing product structure. The extent to which the combined platform changes Payward’s role in financial markets will depend on execution and adoption.
Payward Services combines multiple market functions
Payward Services is a B2B infrastructure platform covering stablecoin payments, tokenized-asset markets, digital-asset trading, staking, lending, custody, compliance, risk management and funding rails.
Payward describes the offering as shared infrastructure for businesses that need to build, scale or operate digital-asset services. The company’s broader plan is to unify trading, banking or payments, asset management and institutional services on common infrastructure.
- Stablecoin payments and funding rails
- Tokenized-asset markets and digital-asset trading
- Custody, compliance and risk-management capabilities
- Staking and lending services
Nasdaq relationship includes $100 million investment agreement
Payward said Nasdaq Ventures agreed to invest $100 million in the company. The firms also said they would continue work related to Nasdaq Equity Tokens and market-surveillance infrastructure.
The announced relationship links Payward’s infrastructure plans to tokenized-equity development and market oversight systems. It also adds an institutional component to Payward’s effort to broaden its products beyond exchange operations.
Expansion follows Kraken product activity

Payward’s infrastructure strategy sits alongside continued Kraken product development, including activity involving tokenized-equity access and crypto market services. Kraken recently opened an Ōura IPO interest process through xStocks, illustrating the exchange’s participation in products tied to tokenized market access.
The company has also continued adding network connectivity for stablecoin transfers. Kraken enabling USDC deposits and withdrawals on Arc reflects the type of payment and settlement connectivity that can support a broader infrastructure model.
