Thailand SEC files complaint against Bitget operator, sets December access block
Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission has filed a criminal complaint against BG Limited, identified by the regulator as the provider of the Bitget platform. The complaint alleges that the company operated a digital-asset exchange business in Thailand without a license.
The SEC said the alleged conduct took place from 2022 through 2025. According to the regulator, the activity included charging fees, providing trading functionality and promoting Bitget’s services in Thai.
Separately, the SEC said it notified the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society to block access to Bitget’s website, related domains and application. The access block is scheduled to take effect on December 5, 2026.

SEC alleges unlicensed exchange activity
The SEC’s complaint concerns BG Limited’s alleged operation of a digital-asset exchange without authorization in Thailand. The regulator’s announcement identifies Bitget as the platform involved.
The allegations have not been presented by the SEC as a finding of guilt. The action is a criminal complaint, and the regulator’s notice describes the activity as alleged unlicensed operation.
The case adds to the regulatory issues faced by offshore trading platforms seeking to serve local users. It follows other exchange-related regulatory developments, including a CFTC Chair call for offshore exchange registration.
Access block scheduled for December 5
Alongside the complaint, the SEC notified Thailand’s Ministry of Digital Economy and Society to block access to Bitget’s website, related domains and application.
The regulator set December 5, 2026, as the effective date for the blocking action. Its announcement does not provide further detail on how the access restrictions will be implemented or their practical scope for users.
The move places the case among broader security and compliance concerns affecting exchange users, as reflected in reports on an EU entity suspected of losses from crypto exchange accounts.
GMO-Z acquisition plans face uncertainty

CoinDesk reported that the enforcement action creates uncertainty around Bitget-linked plans to acquire licensed Thai exchange GMO-Z through BTGT Management (Thailand).
However, the SEC announcement does not say whether the complaint will affect, delay or prevent that proposed transaction. Any outcome for the acquisition therefore remains unconfirmed based on the regulator’s public notice.
The immediate confirmed measures are the criminal complaint against BG Limited and the planned access block effective December 5, 2026.
