Kraken launches BTC and ETH options on Kraken Pro for eligible EEA clients
Kraken announced on October 26, 2026 that eligible clients in the European Economic Area can trade BTC and ETH options through Kraken Pro.
The products are available through a client’s existing Derivatives account. Availability is limited to eligible EEA clients, according to Kraken.
Kraken said the contracts are European-style, cash-settled and linear in USD. The launch adds an options product alongside the exchange’s futures offering for qualifying users.

The exchange also said its EEA options offering is provided through Payward Europe Digital Solutions (CY) Limited, its Cyprus MiFID-regulated entity.
Contract structure and expiries
Kraken’s BTC and ETH options have weekly, monthly, quarterly and semi-annual expiries. European-style options can be exercised only at expiry, while cash settlement means the contracts settle in cash rather than through delivery of the underlying asset.
The contracts are linear in USD, Kraken said. Clients should review the product terms and eligibility requirements before using derivatives products.
- Underlying assets: BTC and ETH
- Settlement: cash-settled
- Contract style: European-style
- Expiry schedule: weekly, monthly, quarterly and semi-annual
Margin and execution
Portfolio margin is enabled by default for the options offering, according to Kraken. The exchange said options share collateral with Futures, which places the products within the same collateral framework for eligible Derivatives account holders.
Options trades are executed through a request-for-quote process. Kraken said users can include up to five legs in a trade, enabling multi-leg options structures within that execution workflow.
- Portfolio margin is enabled by default
- Options and Futures share collateral
- Trading uses request for quote
- A trade can include up to five legs

EEA regulatory entity
Kraken said the offering is provided through Payward Europe Digital Solutions (CY) Limited. The company identifies this entity as regulated under Cyprus’s MiFID framework and authorised by CySEC under licence number 342/17.
The options launch follows Kraken’s broader EEA product activity, including its Unified Wallet availability for EEA clients on Kraken Pro. It is also separate from the exchange’s other Kraken Pro product updates, such as multi-account trading for Kraken Prop on Desktop.
