Wallet Linked to Drift Exploit Sends About $61 Million in ETH to Tornado Cash
A wallet identified on Etherscan as “Drift Exploiter 5” sent approximately 25,700 ETH through Tornado Cash on October 20, 2026. Reports valued the transfer at about $61 million.
The transaction is a new movement of funds associated with the April 1 exploit of Drift Protocol. It is not a price-market event.
Drift’s April recovery update said the exploit resulted in approximately $295 million in outstanding user losses. The protocol’s update provides the stated scale of the losses, while the wallet label on Etherscan links the address to the incident.

Transfer totals differ slightly across reports
Decrypt and Cointelegraph reported that the wallet deposited roughly 25,700 ETH into Tornado Cash. Reported totals vary marginally, with figures ranging from about 25,700 to 25,710 ETH and dollar estimates ranging from approximately $61.24 million to $63 million.
Given those differences, the most supportable description is that about 25,700 ETH, worth roughly $61 million at the time reported, moved through the privacy protocol.

Connection to the Drift incident
Etherscan identifies the relevant address as “Drift Exploiter 5.” That label is the basis for associating the wallet activity with the Drift exploit.
Drift’s official recovery update, published after the April 1 incident, said there were approximately $295 million in outstanding user losses. The latest transfer does not change that figure in the supplied evidence, but it shows funds linked to the exploit continuing to move on Ethereum.
The available evidence does not independently establish an attribution to North Korea. Any such characterization should be treated as an attribution, not as a confirmed fact.
Ethereum transaction activity remains in focus

The transfer places attention on the use of Tornado Cash by an address labeled in connection with a major protocol exploit. The reported movement concerns on-chain funds associated with the prior incident.
Elsewhere in the Ethereum ecosystem, network development remains active, including the planned Hoodi testnet schedule for the Glamsterdam upgrade. Market structure has also been a separate area of focus as Bitcoin and Ether liquidity rebuilds after the October 2025 liquidation event.
