Litecoin Core v0.21.5.8 Released With MWEB Validation and Consensus Fixes

The Litecoin project released Litecoin Core v0.21.5.8 on September 12, 2026. The maintenance update focuses on validation, processing, and operational changes affecting MimbleWimble Extension Blocks (MWEB).

According to the release notes, the update improves MWEB block and transaction validation and relay. It also includes changes to mining and mempool processing, resource management, and networking.

Because this is a consensus change, operators involved in producing, validating, or processing Litecoin transactions have a direct reason to review the upgrade. The project specifically recommends upgrading for miners, pools, exchanges, and MWEB service operators.

Part of continuing MWEB maintenance

The v0.21.5.8 release follows earlier Litecoin Core maintenance work focused on MWEB consensus hardening and security fixes. The current update extends that work with additional validation and processing changes, while adding the scheduled consensus rule.

The Litecoin repository lists v0.21.5.8 as the latest release, with no newer release shown in the official release list.
