Charles Hoskinson Warns Against Voting for Kamala Harris, Citing Crypto Sector Threat

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson cautions that voting for Kamala Harris in the upcoming election poses a risk to the U.S. crypto industry, aligning with concerns raised by Tyler Winklevoss about the administration regulatory stance.

Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano and a prominent voice in the cryptocurrency industry, has issued a stark warning to the crypto community regarding the upcoming U.S. presidential election. In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Hoskinson argued that a vote for Kamala Harris would be a vote against the interests of the American crypto sector. He expressed concerns about the Biden-Harris administration’s increasingly hostile stance toward cryptocurrency, suggesting that a Harris presidency could further intensify regulatory pressures on the industry.

“As I have repeatedly said, the Biden-Harris Whitehouse has a war on crypto. There appears to be no reset. In fact, it appears to be even worse now. A vote for Harris is a vote against the American Crypto industry,” Hoskinson wrote.

Hoskinson’s comments were a response to remarks made by Tyler Winklevoss, co-founder of Gemini, who criticized a recent Federal Reserve action against Customers Bank, a crypto-friendly institution. Winklevoss claimed that the Fed’s enforcement action, which involved compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) regulations, lacked sufficient evidence and was an attempt to tighten control over the banking sector’s involvement with cryptocurrencies.

Winklevoss warned that if Harris were to win the election, the number of crypto companies approved by the Fed could dwindle to almost zero. He suggested that the current regulatory actions were just the beginning, with more stringent measures likely to follow after the election.

“And make no mistake, this enforcement action is the Fed playing nice with nerf guns. It’s just the table setting. Not even the appetizer. The Fed is on its best behavior at the moment because the election is around the corner. If Harris wins in November, the gloves will come off,” Winklevoss stated.

These warnings come as the Biden administration passes the torch to Harris, who has reportedly ramped up efforts to gain support from the crypto community. The Democrats recently launched a new initiative, “Crypto for Harris,” aimed at securing the backing of crypto voters in an attempt to counteract Donald Trump’s growing appeal among this demographic. Trump has positioned himself as a “pro-crypto” candidate, frequently voicing support for Bitcoin and the broader crypto industry.

In contrast, Hoskinson has expressed his support for another presidential candidate, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who is also a strong advocate for Bitcoin. Hoskinson praised Kennedy as “one of the brightest and highest integrity candidates to run for the presidency of my generation.” Kennedy, who will join Hoskinson for a fireside chat at Rare Evo’s blockchain event, has proposed that the U.S. government acquire enough Bitcoin to match the value of its gold reserves, aiming to position the U.S. as the largest Bitcoin holder globally.

As the 2024 election approaches, the crypto community is watching closely, with significant implications for the future of the industry depending on the outcome.
