Solana Cites Network Continuity During TeraSwitch Routing Outage
Solana Foundation has cited an August 12, 2026 routing failure at infrastructure provider TeraSwitch as a test of the network’s operational resilience.
In a September 14 article, the foundation said nearly 29% of Solana network stake went offline during the incident. It said blocks continued to be produced and transactions continued to land.
TeraSwitch separately reported that the event affected blockchain infrastructure across multiple sites, including Solana validator and RPC nodes. The provider said full recovery took 33 minutes.

The accounts align on the occurrence and duration of the infrastructure disruption, while their measurements describe different aspects of the event.
TeraSwitch reports 33-minute recovery
TeraSwitch’s incident report describes an internet outage event at multiple sites on August 12 that affected blockchain infrastructure. Its report specifically included Solana validator and RPC nodes among the impacted systems.
According to TeraSwitch, the incident reached full recovery in 33 minutes. The provider’s report does not establish the percentage of Solana stake affected.
Solana says block production continued
Solana Foundation said the routing failure took nearly 29% of network stake offline. Despite that disruption, the foundation said the network continued to produce blocks and process transactions.
The foundation characterized the episode as evidence of redundancy and resilience in its infrastructure. That characterization is Solana’s interpretation of the incident rather than an independently verified assessment.
The foundation also said Solana has maintained 100% uptime since February 2024. This is a claim made by Solana; the TeraSwitch postmortem does not independently evaluate the network’s broader uptime record.
Different reports measure different impacts

The two accounts do not directly conflict on the underlying outage. Solana reports the estimated share of network stake affected and describes recovery as taking just over 30 minutes, while TeraSwitch reports the systems and sites affected and gives a 33-minute full-recovery timeframe.
The incident illustrates the distinction between an outage at a service provider and an interruption of a blockchain network. Based on Solana’s account, the provider failure removed some validator-related infrastructure from service without stopping block production or transaction processing.
