Cipher Digital reports $31.6 million Q3 profit as first HPC lease revenue begins

Cipher Digital reported third-quarter 2026 net income of $31.6 million, reversing a $3.3 million net loss in the same quarter a year earlier. The company’s revenue, however, fell to $26.7 million from $71.7 million in the third quarter of 2025.

The quarter included Cipher’s first recognized high-performance-computing lease revenue, totaling $5.852 million. That result provides a measurable early sign of the company’s move from a business centered on bitcoin mining toward AI and HPC data-center operations.

The reported profit was substantially shaped by non-operating items rather than operating performance alone. Cipher recorded a $71.9 million operating loss, while a $127.2 million gain from a change in the fair value of its warrant liability was recorded in other income.

Revenue declines as HPC leasing appears in results

Cipher’s $26.7 million of third-quarter revenue was approximately 62.8% below the $71.7 million reported a year earlier. Within the latest quarter, the company recognized $5.852 million in HPC lease revenue for the first time.

The HPC contribution does not by itself establish the scale or durability of Cipher’s planned data-center business. It does show that lease revenue has started to appear in its reported financial results as the company pursues the transition.

Accounting gain offsets operating loss

Cipher reported a $71.9 million operating loss for the quarter. Its $31.6 million net income therefore was not the result of operating performance alone.

A $127.2 million gain related to the change in fair value of the company’s warrant liability was included in other income. This item was large enough to offset the operating loss and help produce the quarter’s positive net-income figure.

The distinction is important when assessing the results: the quarter contained both an initial HPC revenue contribution and a significant accounting gain that affected the bottom line.
