S&P Says Bitcoin ETFs Hit $133B as BlackRock IBIT Nears 700K BTC Milestone

The explosive rise of Bitcoin ETFs has officially transformed institutional crypto adoption.
S&P Global calls the ETF boom a defining moment, with billions flooding in since 2024.

In a landmark report, S&P Global has declared Bitcoin ETFs a pivotal force driving institutional participation in the crypto market. Since their inception in 2024, these financial instruments have garnered substantial inflows, reshaping how major investors approach digital assets.

BlackRock’s IBIT ETF has emerged as a frontrunner, accumulating over $14 billion in 2025 alone. With nearly 700,000 BTC under management, IBIT is on track to surpass even traditional giants like Vanguard’s VOO in annual inflows.

According to the data, total assets held by U.S.-listed Bitcoin ETFs now exceed $133 billion, accounting for around 6% of Bitcoin’s total market capitalization. The trend is mirrored in Ethereum markets, where ETH-based ETFs hold nearly $10 billion, equivalent to over 3% of Ethereum’s market cap.

S&P attributes the surge to the accessibility of crypto via familiar brokerage platforms, which remove the technical barriers and custody concerns that have previously deterred institutional investors. The integration of institutional-grade custodians has further reassured market players.

The report also anticipates a second wave of crypto ETFs covering altcoins such as Solana, XRP, Dogecoin, and even memecoins like PENGU. Bloomberg analysts predict these new offerings could arrive by year’s end, significantly expanding the diversity of regulated crypto investment products.

With ETFs now holding a commanding presence across digital asset classes, the fusion of traditional finance and crypto continues to accelerate, reshaping capital markets in real time.
