Ledger Investigates Reports of Drained Wallets Linked to Southeast Asian Reseller

Ledger is investigating reports that cryptocurrency was drained from wallets associated with devices sold through CryptoBilis, a Southeast Asian reseller listed in Ledger’s official directory.

Independent reporting placed estimated losses at more than $86 million across several networks, including Bitcoin, Ethereum and Tron. That figure is an estimate from an on-chain investigator and has not been confirmed by Ledger or law enforcement.

The central question remains unresolved: no source has verified that Ledger hardware was tampered with, and a suspected supply-chain compromise has not been established.

What Ledger is investigating

The investigation concerns reports involving wallets connected to devices purchased through CryptoBilis. Ledger’s reseller directory lists CryptoBilis as an official reseller in Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines.

An authorized reseller listing does not establish the cause of the reported losses. The available evidence does not determine whether the devices, their distribution, wallet setup or another factor was responsible.

Reported losses remain unconfirmed

Independent coverage reported estimated losses exceeding $86 million, with affected assets said to span Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tron and other networks. The estimate should not be treated as a final verified loss total.

Reports have also described the matter as a potential device-tampering or supply-chain issue. Those descriptions remain theories under investigation rather than confirmed findings.

  • The reported total is an investigator’s estimate, not an official Ledger or law-enforcement figure.
  • Hardware tampering has not been verified.
  • A supply-chain compromise has not been confirmed.

Why the multichain reports matter

The reported presence of losses across several blockchains broadens the scope of the claims, but it does not by itself identify how wallets may have been compromised. Tron was among the networks cited in reporting on the estimated losses.

The episode also comes as infrastructure providers continue to expand cross-network payment and asset-routing services. Related developments include Polygon Open Money Stack Adds TRON Support for USDT Routing and Fiat Payouts.

Custody and verification remain central

Ledger’s investigation may clarify whether there is any connection between the reported drained wallets and devices obtained through the reseller. Until then, the alleged method of compromise and the scale of the incident remain unsettled.

The case underscores the importance of clear custody controls and verifiable security processes across crypto services, an issue also reflected in SEC Proposes Crypto Custody Framework for Investment Advisers and Funds. This report does not establish a broader risk affecting Ledger devices or other resellers.
