BNB Foundation Burns Over 1.6M Tokens in 30th Quarterly Event, Plans for Auto-Burn Future

The BNB Foundation has completed its 30th quarterly token burn, reducing the supply by 1.6M BNB tokens worth $1.16B. Future burns will use an Auto-Burn system for transparency and predictability.

The BNB Foundation has successfully executed its 30th quarterly token burn, eliminating over 1.6 million BNB tokens valued at approximately $1.16 billion. This event is part of the foundation’s commitment to reducing BNB’s total supply to its 100M token target.

Burn Details: Auto-Burn and Pioneer Burn

This quarter’s burn included two mechanisms:

• Auto-Burn Mechanism: Introduced via BEP-95, the system accounted for 1.5M BNB of the burn, ensuring an objective and predictable process based on BNB’s price and the number of blocks generated on the BNB Smart Chain (BSC).
• Pioneer Burn Program: The remaining 110K BNB were part of the Pioneer Burn, which includes “now unrecoverable” tokens left by validators.

Validators who accidentally lost their self-staked tokens were compensated under this program, demonstrating the foundation’s efforts to maintain fairness and recover honest mistakes within the ecosystem.

The burned tokens were sent to the “black hole” address (0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dEaD) as per the foundation’s protocol.

Current and Future Burn Plans

The BNB Foundation aims to reduce the total supply from 142.47M BNB to 100M BNB, with 42.47M tokens still pending elimination.

• Future burns will rely on the Auto-Burn system, adjusting amounts based on BNB’s price and BSC block generation.
• BNB Chain will also continue its real-time burning mechanism, which burns a portion of gas fees in every block. Since BEP-95’s implementation, 248K BNB tokens have been burned using this method.

The Pioneer Burn Program remains active, assisting users in recovering tokens lost due to honest mistakes.

Binance CEO Highlights Crypto’s Early Potential

In related news, Binance CEO Richard Teng commented on crypto adoption, asserting that the industry is still in its early stages.

Teng dismissed concerns that it’s “too late” to invest in crypto, describing such beliefs as “detrimental.” He highlighted Bitcoin’s journey, where a once unthinkable $100K price point is now considered the norm.

“What was impossible yesterday is expected or underwhelming today,” Teng remarked, adding that the crypto market’s momentum from 2024 is accelerating into 2025.

He emphasized that the transformative potential of blockchain and cryptocurrencies continues to shape the future of finance, making now a prime time for adoption and growth.
