WLFI Token Launches September 1 with 20% Unlock, Governance Vesting, Futures Listing

World Liberty Financial WLFI token — backed by Donald Trump Jr. — launches on Ethereum on September 1 with a planned 20% initial unlock, futures trading already live, and the rest of its supply governed by community voting.

World Liberty Financial (WLFI), a DeFi initiative with ties to the Trump family, confirmed that its native WLFI token will become tradable on September 1 at 12:00 UTC on the Ethereum mainnet.

Only 20% of the total token supply—reserved for early presale participants from the $0.015 and $0.05 rounds—will be unlocked at launch. The remaining 80% remains locked and will be released based on community governance votes, designed to foster alignment with long-term project goals and prevent excessive short-term sell pressure.

A Lockbox smart contract, audited by Cyfrin, has been introduced to facilitate claims. It opens on August 25, allowing presale wallets that pass KYC and compliance checks to activate their tokens ahead of official trading.

Futures markets have already begun building around WLFI, with Binance Futures launching WLFI/USDT perpetual contracts, offering up to 5× leverage with a capped funding rate. Other exchanges like MEXC and Bitget are also preparing trading infrastructure, signaling elevated interest even before the spot market opens.

WLFI’s rollout follows a successful $2.26 billion presale, part of which was supported by ALT5 Sigma’s $1.5 billion equity backing. Coupled with governance controls and structured vesting, the launch positions WLFI as a high-profile entrant into DeFi markets—though its political associations may invite heightened scrutiny.
