CryptoPunks Acquired for $20M as Floor Price Soars After Surprise Ownership Shift

The iconic CryptoPunks NFT collection has been acquired for $20 million by the Infinite Node foundation, sparking a surge in floor prices and renewed interest in legacy NFT.

CryptoPunks, one of the most historically significant NFT collections, has just undergone a major shift in ownership for the second time in three years. The intellectual property (IP) behind CryptoPunks has been officially acquired by the Infinite Node (NODE) foundation — a nonprofit organization financially supported by the venture firm Ribbit Capital.

This move was publicly confirmed by both NODE and Yuga Labs, the previous owner of CryptoPunks. As part of the transition, all CryptoPunks IP and associated brand assets will now be maintained and developed by NODE. This includes future brand partnerships, licensing, and initiatives aimed at preserving CryptoPunks’ cultural impact.

The sale has ignited fresh momentum in the NFT market, with the CryptoPunks floor price jumping to over 50 ETH following the announcement — marking a significant rise from previous weeks.

According to sources close to the deal, the acquisition was structured to ensure the long-term preservation of CryptoPunks as a digital cultural artifact. Ribbit Capital emphasized that this move is about “cementing CryptoPunks as a foundational piece of internet culture.”

This acquisition not only strengthens NODE’s growing NFT ecosystem but also reaffirms investor confidence in blue-chip NFT assets. Community reactions have been largely positive, with many longtime holders expressing optimism about the direction and stewardship of the collection under NODE.
