Bitkraft Ventures, known for its strategic investments in blockchain-based gaming, has led a $9 million seed round in the web3 mobile gaming platform Party Icons. The investment was officially announced on Wednesday and is aimed at driving the growth of Party Icons’ gaming and social offerings while strengthening its web3 infrastructure.

The seed round also included participation from notable investors such as IDG Capital and Sebastien Borget, co-founder of The Sandbox. According to a statement from Party Icons, the fresh capital will be allocated to expanding the platform’s gaming and social experiences while bolstering its web3 capabilities.

Jonathan Huang, principal at Bitkraft Ventures, commented on the potential of the platform, saying, “Party Icons is on an ambitious mission to blend the social glue of party games with the intensity of extraction shooters.” Similar to The Sandbox, Party Icons envisions itself as a platform that goes beyond gaming, becoming a space for users to play and socialize.

Party Icons: A New Breed of Web3 Gaming

Party Icons offers three distinct game modes designed to capture modern gaming habits, catering to players who favor “bite-sized” entertainment, with sessions lasting under 12 minutes. Quinn Campbell, Party Icons’ VP of Growth, highlighted that the platform is designed for quick, engaging gaming experiences that align with how people game today.

Although blockchain-powered games have historically struggled to break into the mainstream, Party Icons is among a new generation of platforms seeking to change that narrative. Recent success stories like the launch of Off the Grid, a battle-royale game, and the rise of Telegram-based tap-to-earn games have attracted millions of users, demonstrating that web3 gaming is making strides.

Bitkraft’s Continued Investment in Web3 Gaming

Bitkraft Ventures has remained a strong advocate for blockchain gaming, despite the sector’s challenges. Earlier in April, the firm co-led a $10 million funding round for Avalon, a crypto gaming studio that is working on its own immersive gaming projects.
