Asset manager VanEck continues to back an ambitious Bitcoin outlook. In its latest Mid-August “ChainCheck” report, the firm reiterated its belief that BTC could reach $180,000 by year-end, despite recent volatility and shifting market signals.

VanEck attributes this projected trajectory to a combination of strong institutional demand, persistently high ETF inflows, and resilient market fundamentals. The firm notes that 92% of on-chain BTC holdings were already in profit before the breakout run, signaling broad support under current prices.

Moreover, VanEck argues that macro conditions—including rate expectations, liquidity, and fiscal policy—remain favorable for risk assets such as Bitcoin. Its confidence remains grounded even as it acknowledges downside risks like profit-taking, regulatory surprises, or macro shocks.

Analysts are split on the plausibility of $180K. Some see it as aggressive but achievable if capital flows remain consistent and volatility stays contained; others argue that Bitcoin would need to breach multiple resistance points with minimal retracements.
