October Designated “ETF Month” as SEC Prepares to Rule on 16 Crypto Funds

October 2025 is poised to be a turning point for crypto ETFs, with the SEC set to decide on 16 crypto fund applications — a wave that could reshape institutional access to digital assets.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) faces a critical calendar this month, with 16 crypto ETF applications awaiting final decisions. Cointelegraph reports the deadlines span from early to late October, covering popular assets like Solana (SOL), XRP, Litecoin (LTC), and Dogecoin (DOGE). 

First in line is the Litecoin ETF from Canary Capital, due for a decision around October 2, followed by Grayscale’s Solana and Litecoin conversions on October 10, and culminating with WisdomTree’s XRP ETF decision on October 24. 

Under revised SEC policy, the regulator recently adopted new listing standards for commodity-based trust shares—streamlining the review process for crypto ETFs that meet those standards. This means that, in theory, eligible funds could launch in as few as 75 days, compared to the 270-day timeframe under older rules. 

Analysts note that while these upcoming approvals exclude powerhouse issuers like BlackRock and Fidelity in the initial batch, the wave of potential launches could catalyze renewed institutional interest in altcoins, and bring regulated exposure to new tokens. 

The crypto community is watching closely: if several of these ETFs are greenlit, markets could respond with increased capital inflows and renewed momentum across mid-cap tokens.
