Sandy Carter, the dynamic COO of Unstoppable Domains and author of AI First, Human Always, is not just envisioning the future of the internet—she’s building it. With a legacy spanning IBM, Amazon, and now Web3, Carter is pushing boundaries across digital identity, blockchain, and AI. “I started at a startup, went to IBM, then back to startups, then Amazon, and now I’m here again,” Carter says. “That rhythm taught me something: you need both structure and disruption to lead through change.”

Carter’s tech journey includes early blockchain work at Amazon, where her focus was never on speculative coins, but on practical enterprise use cases. “Supply chains, hospital logistics, finance—it clicked when I saw blockchain as infrastructure,” she reflects.

At Unstoppable Domains, Carter leads a team rethinking digital identity. Their goal: replace complex wallet addresses with human-readable, privacy-centric domain names. “We went from raw blockchain addresses to names people can remember and own. Today, we process 10 to 30 million wallet resolutions daily,” she explains.

The recent launch of the .privacy domain underscores this movement. With 1,000 domains registered within 24 hours on the Base blockchain, it became the fastest-selling TLD ever. “Privacy isn’t optional anymore—it’s fundamental,” Carter asserts.

The .privacy domain offers more than branding. It’s a fully encrypted identity layer that integrates decentralized IDs and supports over 200 cryptocurrencies. It gives users control: they choose what to share, with whom, and for how long.

“I want privacy where I own the data,” she says. “Blockchain enables that, but we’re now layering AI and confidentiality on top.”

Supporting this evolution is Women in Web3 Privacy, a nonprofit collective working with Carter to educate and build around privacy-first infrastructure. To Carter, it’s more than technology—it’s a shift in digital culture. “We’re not just making tools. We’re championing digital sovereignty.”

This ethos pulses through her book AI First, Human Always, which she calls a field guide for leaders navigating the AI era. The book explores seven macro AI trends, from tokenized intelligence to multimodal agents, but it always circles back to humanity.

“AI isn’t about replacing people,” Carter says. “It’s about amplifying what makes us human.”

As Carter leads Unstoppable Domains into the next evolution of Web3, her work continues to set the tone for a decentralized internet: one where privacy, ownership, and ethics walk side by side with code.
